Montessori Toddler Community

Montessori Approach for Toddlers

Our Toddler Community offers an authentic educational alternative for children from 18 months to 3 years old.

Based on a scientifically recognized approach, the Montessori pedagogy aims to reveal each child’s potential. It respects children’s psychomotor, emotional, intellectual and social development needs.

We welcome children in a warm, secure environment close to nature, promoting young-children’s well-being and development.

Environnement

The environment is carefully prepared to welcome a group of 12 children of mixed ages; bringing in practice the fundamental principles of Montessori pedagogy:

  • Offer the freedom of movement and choice, to develop the autonomy of young children while respecting their own rhythm.
  • Develop the natural curiosity and stimulate the senses while exploring the environment and manipulating the wide range of activities

Activities

In a Montessori Toddler Community we give children the freedom to explore pedagogical activities adapted to their height and strength, answering fundamental developmental needs like:

  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Language development
  • Practical life exercises to help children develop movement coordination, focus and acquire useful skills for everyday life
  • Music
  • Arts
  • Observe the nature and play outside, as we have in our close surroundings access to playgrounds, vegetable garden and nearby parksux adapté, jardin potager et parcs à proximité

The Method

Montessori’s teaching method, which is offered at a very early age, encourages :

  • The acquisition of practical skills for everyday life (self-organization, hygiene, helping others)
  • Development in a collaborative and stimulating environment
  • The acquisition of rapid autonomy
  • Developing a sense of responsibility and self-discipline
  • Self-confidence development
  • Developing concentration and critical thinking skills
  • Develop social skills through the values of listening, sharing, mutual aid and fairness

The Montessori method from 18 months to 3 years of age enables very young children to develop a sensitivity and aptitudes that will serve them throughout their pre-school, school and adult life.

Ecole Montessori Meyrin offers the possibility of joining our other communities for the following ages:

  • Children’s House for children aged 3 to 6 (primary school)
  • Elementary Class for children aged 6 to 12
  • Secondary I Class for children aged 12 to 15
